Interview Summary

I interviewed one of my friends, and they said that they prefer to do e-learning because they feel more comfortable around their family and they don't have to worry about the problems that happen at school.

Your Personal Opinion

In my opinion I feel like we should have a option on whether we want to do e-learning or go back in person because many students go through a lot and its best for them to decide what they want and for them to feel comfortable with what they want.

Should students have a decision on picking to go to school or do e- learning? 8/10 of students choose to make a decision that they prefer e-learning instead of in person. I believe that e-learning is beneficial to students. Here are some of the reasons why E-learning would be beneficial: E-learning helps reduce anxiety and improves mental health. It would be beneficial because many students do not feel comfortable interacting with people face to face because most people have anxiety, social anxiety, or are not sociable.During a pandemic Most students prefer to work in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. Students were at home around their family having that emotional support. According to the article “For some students, being home and around family, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, can offer feelings of safety and reassurance. For these students, their home can become a safe learning environment where they feel more productive.” A second reason why it's beneficial would be that students get bullied and harassed, so being online helps them stay away from all of that. Even though there is online bullying, it's more common for them to get bullied face-to-face at school, especially if they are going through mental health issues. I found in the arctic that "school is a place for teens to socialize and form friendships. Not all social interactions are positive. Students may become victims of bullying at school. For these students, virtual learning offers an escape from depression and anxiety caused by the fear of being bullied. For other students, virtual classes can also provide an escape from the constant weight of peer pressure. which is correct, it does assist you.

The Positive effects of e-learning are that you don't have to worry about any costs or transportation, and it's an easy and quick way to learn. Many students struggle with transportation, especially in the winter, so doing schoolwork online is a better method than going out, and you can do your work at any time of day. In the article it states that "online students don’t have to pay for student housing, gas for commuting, or on-campus meal programs. That can translate to substantial savings, which is a major perk for cost-conscious students." I think this is a good reason why students might choose online instead of going in person. Another Positive effect is that you can learn how to use technology and how it works. Not only that, but once you've gotten used to working online, it's a much easier method to use. It states in the article “Online courses make it easy to be a passive participant, but for the investment you’re making, it’s much more fulfilling to take advantage of your networking opportunities.” Many people prefer working online because it allows them to learn new skills and expand their opportunities.

The negative effects that impact students in higher education would be their GPA. It is one of the major negative effects that students face in higher education. It has a greater impact on their GPA if they do not complete what they are supposed to do online. It is risky to engage in online learning if you are easily distracted, as stated in the article “students may be less prepared for future follow-on classes, their GPAs may be lower, course completion may suffer, and learning may have decreased compared to previous in-person classes.” It is a major risk, so you must stay on top of things because you are in higher education. Another reason is that it is difficult for students to seek assistance online simply because they do not know how to communicate with professors or how to use the technology what I read in the article

“In a virtual environment, poor learning effects, less course completion, and a lack of connection with other students and staff could all contribute to lower college completion rates.” e- learning is not Easy but as long as you try you'll be fine.

To sum up, students should decide whether to attend in person or via e-learning. These two options are helpful for everyone. Everyone has a different idea of what they want to do and what works best for them. I would like to do e-learning because I am more focused on it. And, because I have a lot of anxiety at school, I feel like I get more distracted in school rather than online, but, as I previously stated, everyone has a preference on what they want to do, which is why we should choose whether we want to do it in person or through e-Learning. Students should make their own choices because it is their education and they have the right to it.
