This section provides an overview of FIRST Illinois Robotics and the Chicago FTC League, which includes community-based teams and teams from private, charter, and Chicago Public Schools. It outlines the season timeline, highlights important events and deadlines, and provides links to league team lists, records, and other key resources.
The FIRST Tech Challenge experience in Illinois starts in September with the game reveal and our kickoff events. Teams are placed into geographical leagues and each team will compete in 3 league meets, and one league tournament. Approximately 25% of the teams will advance to our IL State Championship in the spring.
Teams will participate in some or all of the following events each season:

The FIRST Tech Challenge Illinois Championship Tournament is an intense two-day event showcasing robots developed and operated by teams of high school students. The competing robots are the best robots from the FTC Qualifying Events held all around Illinois. The robots represent the product of focused brainstorming, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, and managing project deadlines. The mentor/student interaction is integral to the FTC program. It takes a lot of hard work to develop a competitive robot, and it shows when you see them in action at the Illinois Championship Tournament.
