We use gears all of the time in robotics and it is common for us to purchase these gears. However, in FTC the gears may not have the needed geometry and thus we will create custom gears and print them. The following tutorial provides an overview of how to create custom gears using the Spur Gear Add-In.
In this video we will review how to use the Spur Gear Add-In to create custom gears for printing.
This tutorial goes over the settings to create the Gobilda 2302 Series Aluminum, MOD 0.8, Hub Mount Gear (14mm Bore, 60 Tooth)
Once the Spur Gear Add-In Launches you can set your Module (GoBilda uses 0.8) and the number of teeth and the Root Fillet Radius. The settings in the figure will match the Gobilda 2302 Series Aluminum, MOD 0.8, Hub Mount Gear (14mm Bore, 60 Tooth)
Adjust the number of teeth and record the Pitch Diameter if you wish to create a different size gear. Change the Module if you want to change the size of the Teeth and then be consistent across the gears you create so that they mesh properly.
