Freshman Seminar is a support class that helps students deal with their classes, their grades, their relationships, their future, their past, and themselves. They will have graded work in this class, and it counts for GPA and graduation. Topics covered include Mental Health Awareness, Identity, Leadership, Post-Secondary Exploration, and Job Readiness Skills. The Freshman Seminar teachers bring together staff and resources in the North-Grand community to help students navigate the difficulties of high school through both academic and social/emotional support. Freshman Seminar is a class that is designed to help students understand high school. We also work on College and Career Readiness, Social Emotional Skills, Resume Building and focus on Mental Health

This course is separated into two academic semesters: English and Math. The Math semester is designed to prepare and sharpen your SAT Skills. While the English semester is designed to support your SAT verbal section skills and your success as you get ready to transition into alumni hood by ensuring you have a post secondary plan. This course will focus on the processes of writing, inquiry, collaboration and reading. In addition, we will explore aspects of our identity and how it affects the world around us. Overall, this course will support your academic success as you decide on a postsecondary pathway, participate in school activities, and become educated leaders capable of making informed decisions.
Junior seminar is about more than solidifying postsecondary career options, it will include the development of academic strategies and social/ emotional maturity. Thus, this course is for you. It is what WE make of it. Plus adulting is hard, it’s okay to ask for help! And here to help us is iMentor, a mentoring program that focuses on your post-secondary success by matching you with a mentor to help you navigate the selection process. Together with the iMentor curriculum, our post secondary coaches and your goals, we can’t wait to help you unlock your potential!

In Seminar IV students will be focusing on the post-secondary pathway. Whether a student is pursuing college/university enrollment, vocational school, military, vocational, workforce, or gap year, Seminar IV helps to guide a student with how be successful in their designated pathway of choice. Students will also be completing graduation requirements such as: FAFSA/IL Alt App. Three or more College applications, Scholarship search (Ex: Academic Works)
