Noodle Tools is the resource that the CPP School District uses for creating citations and works cited pages. If you need assistance using NoodleTools please stop in the library and see Mrs. Martinec or Ms. Elsey or email us smartinec@cppasd.com and belsey@cppasd.com.
All CPP Students can log in to NoodleTools using their Google Account.
Do not put your username and password in the boxes , click on the Google link below the login box. If you are already logged into Google on your computer you will get right into Noodle Tools (this should always be the case on a Chromebook), if not a box will pop up for you to put in your google login information.
To get started with a new project, click the green New Project button in the upper right corner.
You will name the project and chose the citation style and level. Select MLA and Advanced unless your teacher has requested that you use a different Citation Style. The advanced level setting gives access to all of the source templates available in NoodleTools, choosing Starter or Junior only gives access to some of the source templates.
On the Projects Page, click on the title of the project that you want to add sources to.
To start adding sources, click on New Source button in the upper right corner.
First, click on theitem from the menu for where you found the source. Then, a drop down will appear for you to click the specific template for the type of source you have.
Fill out the template with as much of the information you can find for the source. Be sure to watch for notifications of issues when you are filling out the template. Yellow triangles will appear with information on what you need to fix. Once you have filled out the template you need to click the Save button
Once you save your citations they will appear on a list for that project. They are added to the list where they would be alphabetically. If you need to make any changes to any of your source citations, click the 3 dots to the right of the citation and you can edit, or delete the citation. You can also view information on how to do and in-text citation for that type of source.
Once you are finished with your citations, to create a Works Cited page you need to click on the Print/Export button at the top of the page and open your Works Cited as a Google Doc. Doing this will format all of the citations properly, put everything in alphabetical order, double-space everything, indent second lines etc.
You can also create Notecards in Noodle Tools. To do this, when you are in a project you can click on Notecards on the menu on the left. Then, click New Notecard in the upper-right corner. You can include direct quotations, paraphrase or summarize content or include your own ideas. You can also link notecards to the source they are from once it is added to your citations for the project.
The Purdue OWL (online writing lab) offers online reference materials and services for creating citations in both APA and MLA Style, as well as information on Avoiding Plagiarism and other research and writing resources.
