Talent Development (TD) students are defined as needing significant challenges beyond what is offered in the regular education classroom but lacking the qualifications to be officially identified as AIG, or are between identification windows.
K-2 (pre-spring screening) Identification
All students in grades K-2 (pre-spring universal screening for 2nd grade) who “perform or show potential to perform at substantially high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment and require differentiated services beyond what are ordinarily provided by the regular education program” will be identified as participants in the TD program. Once universal screening has been completed in the spring of 2nd grade, official AIG identification can begin using the Grade 2 Spring Identification Pathways.
Grades 3-12 Talent Development
In grades 3-12, Talent Development qualifications include a score of 12-14 on the portfolio rubric, TABs score of 25-35, SIGS score of 55-118, 85-89%ile on achievement measures, 85-89%ile on aptitude measures, 85-89% in core class of identification. Students who do not qualify for AIG identification due to missing 2-3 qualifications for AIG identification will be placed in the TD program in order to develop the lacking skills. Ideally, these students will formally qualify for the AIG program at a later time.
