A career pathway is a series of connected education and training strategies and programs; which develops workers’ skills and credentials for a health care professional. To enable them to obtain and advance in their chosen field. Career pathways are part of CPA's broader workforce development strategy, which supports our teams' transitions between education and the working environment.
CPA were commissioned together with Sheffield Hallam University to undertake a analysis of the training and development issues that were prevalent within Care Homes in Doncaster. There was an overwhelming desire from the care homes to be involved with the evaluation. The care home sector welcomed the recommendations and Doncaster Council adopted them through an implementation plan undertaken by CPA.
This short course equips carers with the knowledge and skills base to take baseline observations; gain relevant information for a service user for whom they are going to seek advice for from a Health Care Professional by telephone. The course is very interactive and practical taught by experienced Health Care Practitioners. The course concludes with a practical assessment based around a simulated patient; including the physical assessment and making a real time phone call and completing a record of the event. In an independent review in Doncaster it was identified as contributing to a reduction in unnecessary admissions from care homes.
At the core of CPA there is a strong drive to support positive change within the health and social care workforce. Through collaboration and partnership working, locally, regionally and nationally, CPA continues to be instrumental in directing authorities in forward thinking to future proof the workforce for the challenges it faces and celebrate its successes.
