Welcome to our Level 3 Games Design and Animation showcase.
Our two year Games Design course offers you the chance to gain the skills to move into a wide range of digital media production.
Games and games design is now one of the UK's biggest cultural exports, with well known titles such as Tomb Raider, Little Big Planet and Wipeout all being developed in the UK. But the skills developed here go further than just making games - 3D modelling alone has applications across architecture, education, publishing, medical research and so much more. We aim to prepare our students for this rapidly expanding industry.
We are so proud of all of our students. This year has been challenging for everyone, but especially artists and designers whilst being asked to undertake demanding creative projects. Our students have excelled and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them and display their hard work for everyone to view. We hope you enjoy looking through some of their best work.

A short video tech demo showing off some modelling designed by Oliver. The program is using a pre-set character, but the environment is an early build of Oliver's final level design.

Built in 3DS Max and Unreal Engine.
A selection of concept work from a Year 2 Project. Ash was looking to create a an playable level map of a post apocalyptic city in the vein of "The Last of Us"
Working on a range of programs, these images are pre-visualization concepts for a ruined urban cityscape
Ash worked hard to create a range of assets, that would then be textured to give the ruined post-apocalyptic feel in production
These are some concept images for Emily's Game Design Project
The game is based on reclaiming memories in a surreal dreamlike landscape
The images were created using Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite
A selection of moving and still images of Oliver's Mech for Character modelling on the UAL Games Design Year 2 Course.
Cade is interested in vehicle modelling and car and bike customisation. Here is the render for his Honda C50 bike and some early renders of his design for Hillman Imp classic car model below. This is the final render for Isaac's 3D level, created and textured on Autodesk 3DS Max. Isaac went for a post apocalyptic feel, with repurposed materials such as cars and barrels to create a small base of operations for the player to explore.
Students on the year 2 of the Games Design course produce a social action video game - one designed to promote awareness of a social issue or produce positive social change. This game, produced by Maddy and Zach is designed for educators to use gaming to raise awareness of feminist issues in pop culture - in this case the 'male gaze' and female objectification in video games as laid out by film theorist Laura Mulvey.
