Level 3 Art and Design is a two year course; in the first year learners are encouraged to explore all areas of the arts, to achieve a Diploma. Then they begin to determine their pathways when they progress onto the Extended Diploma in the second year. From the start learners can start building their portfolios, as this qualification enables them to either go to University to study for a degree, progress onto an apprenticeship or into employment.
A qualification in Art & Design opens up a wide range of opportunities for work within the creative industries such as; commercial illustrator, fashion designer, graphic designer, textile designer, interior designer, gallery assistant, animator and many, many more.
Learners have a range of workshops, in order to develop practical skills, in a very wide range of creative arts subjects including; drawing, painting, working with mixed media, graphics and digital media, textiles, printmaking, ceramics, photography and 3 dimensional work. Projects and workshops are linked to relevant creative careers. Alongside the practical skills, they will develop their technical, as well as their also research and literacy skills.
