ANNUAL STAIRWELL MURALS: A LEGACY IN PAINT
Each year, our Senior AP Art students leave their creative mark on the walls of our school through a special mural project that begins after they complete their College Board Portfolio Exam. Since its start in 2022, this evolving series of murals has transformed the top floor of our building and continues its journey downward, year by year, through the stairwell.
These murals tell a powerful, visual story of our school mascot—the cardinal—as it moves through the stages of life, just as our students do. The fourth-floor mural, where the journey ends, features an expansive spread of the cardinal’s wings, symbolizing the culmination of education and the readiness of our seniors to take flight into their futures. As you descend each floor, the cardinal appears younger, representing the growth and transformation of students from high school through middle and elementary years. Next year, 2026, will be last of the murals to complete our visual story in the stairwell.
This project is a celebration of student voice, artistic vision, and the shared journey of learning and development. It is both a gift to our school and a lasting legacy of each graduating class.
