About this service
Westbridge is an inclusive, trauma-informed specialist school.
Westbridge is the only ‘Ukeru’ school in New Zealand. Ukeru is a physical restraint-free system of support guided by the philosophy of ‘Comfort’ versus ‘Control’.
We provide 24 hour care, seven days a week on extensive rural grounds in Massey, West Auckland.
Students are typically enrolled with us for between 12-18 months during which time their families and whanau are also supported to make positive change.
Main Audience for this Service
Students with learning and social difficulties. The school caters for students in Years 3 to 10.
Why would I use this Service?
The school and residential cottages provide a programme that is designed to support students to learn new skills and to stay engaged in education. Valued outcomes for students focus on them acquiring new ways of behaving and interacting with others that enable them to successfully transition back to their whānau and into a mainstream educational setting.
