Upon starting college, I was not sure what I wanted to do. When I came to Concordia I was pre-dentistry working towards a major in biology, but I soon came to realize that dentistry was not for me. To figure out what to do, I took multiple exploratory courses to find out what piqued my interest while continuing to work towards my biology major. After taking a few history classes, a film, psychology, and a nutrition class, I soon figured out what I wanted to do. Food Science is the class that helped me realize I had a passion for nutrition. While taking this class I realized how important food is in everyone's lives. What intrigued me the most is that food is something we all have in common - regardless of our culture. We all need to eat to function and what we eat can influence our health status.
Since I love to learn and biology was still so interesting to me, I decided to double major in both nutrition and biology. I was able to complete my double major in 4.5 years because I had the opportunity to take college-level courses in high school that helped me satisfy a few generals at Concordia. As a representation of the courses I have taken during my time at Concordia College, I have also linked subsequent classes that have been supplemental in my educational growth through nutrition and dietetics.
