This week, continue to review the rhythm chart from Activity #3 and Activity #4. If you have not done Activity #3 or Activity #4 yet, please go back to the Week 3 Resources or Week 4 Resources folder and complete these activities first.
Please continue practicing Rows #1-4 on the “Rhythm Chart”. The rhythm chart can be found on the Schoology Orchestra group in the “Resources” tab on the sidebar. You can play these rhythms using any open string of your choice.
Remember that the amount of bow you should use and the speed of the bow will depend on how long the note is. Below is a summary of each of the rhythms that are found in Rows #1-4.
When you see a quarter note (Ta), use the full bow from one end to the other. It should last 1 beat long.
When you see eighth notes (Ti-Ti), only use half of the bow and move your bow quickly. When two eighth notes are connected, they make up a total of 1 beat.
When you see a half note (Ta-ah), play a slow bow that lasts 2 beats long. You should only play one note, but it should last 2 beats long.
When you see a rest, stop your bow on the string for 1 beat of silence.
