An exploration of drawing with a foundation in observational studies. Throughout the course, a broad range of drawing materials and applications will be introduced. Includes lectures and discussions on the history of drawing and the nature of drawing in contemporary art.

The student will learn techniques for drawing from observation.
The student will learn various shading techniques and how to apply them to real objects.
The student will learn how to recreate three-dimensional objects onto a two-dimensional surface.
The student will learn about the various uses for drawing, from sketches to finished drawings, and will demonstrate an understanding of each.
The student will learn and use appropriate drawing vocabulary.
The student will get experience using a variety of drawing media.

Reading: Getting Things Started (pg. 11 - 73)
Unit 1: Technical Lessons
Going through the different drawing mediums to understand shading, mark making, and more.
Unit 2: Creative Minds
Understanding perspective and surrealistic art movements.
Unit 3: Working with Color
Working with multiple colored drawing mediums using similar techniques to sum up the goals and techniques of what was learned over the semester.
