The Science Department is comprised of four instructors. Justin Anderton serves as the Department Head of Science, along with a great team of science teachers.
Be sure to check out each teacher’s bio, club sponsorships, and courses they teach.
To graduate, students MUST have a minimum of three years of science courses. Freshmen can take either Integration of Physics & Chemistry (IPC) or Biology. Freshmen have the opportunity to skip IPC and take Pre-AP Biology based on their 8th grade Science STAAR scores. After Biology, the next science course is Chemistry. This is taken by sophomores and juniors. Physics follows next, taken by juniors/seniors. Other senior science class options are: AP Biology, AP Physics, or Anatomy & Physiology.
High school science only has one STAAR test: Biology. This STAAR test must be passed as a state requirement for graduation. Students will take this test the same year they take Biology. The science department works hard to make sure all students are well-equipped for the Biology STAAR test.
