All assignments created in the grade book must be categorized. Teachers must create at least one category before assignments can be created. You can make multiple categories but you must have at least one.
Using Board Policy po5421 above as a guide, a teacher might chose to create a Projects, Homework, Classwork, Quizzes and Tests as assignment Categories.
Teachers should use their own professional judgment (within the District’s defined parameters) in determining how much weight to give each graded assignment/category.
Assignments received from an outside program (CANVAS) may arrive in Infinite Campus without categories or grading alignments. Teachers must select categories and grading alignments for scores and grades to report correctly on Infinite Campus.
Assignments can be aligned after they have been received through the Uncategorized Assignments list or aligned by default based on settings in the Non-Campus Assignment Defaults tool.

Establish Composite Grading
Grade Calculation Options can be used to set up composite grading for a course section using the Grade Book tool. Composite grading is a calculation that allows grades from multiple grading tasks or standards to contribute towards a single grade. For instance, composite grading can be used to set up grading for a semester task that is calculated from two quarter tasks. Click here to learn more.
Grade Calculation Options must be set for Students and Parents to see the In Progress Grade on the Student and Parent Portal.
Teachers are asked to verify this setting in the grade book for each course section.
