ML Modifications are changes made to the presentation of classroom content and assignments to align them with a ML students current English proficiency level. Some ML students require no or few modifications while others at the beginning stages of English proficiency may require more. The goal of ML Modifications is to allow students to access course content and demonstrate their understanding of content.
If ML Modifications are needed or recommended, possible Modifications are included in each student's ML Plan provided to classroom teachers. Below are examples of current ML modifications that may be assigned to a student.
The matrix below provides examples of ML Modifications for the four Language Domains (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing) across the five levels of English Language Proficiency (e.g. WIDA Standards.) The Modifications listed in the matrix can be applied across content areas.
