SPORT GUIDELINES

Columba College Sports Guidelines

Students are able to participate in two sports codes per season but may apply to the Director of Sport for an exemption to participate in a third. The Director will weigh up the performance level involved, the time commitment, commitments beyond school, student wellbeing, academic demands on the student and equity across sports opportunities offered in order to make her decision. The Director of Sports may also consult with caregivers, teachers-in-charge, Deans and the Head of Middle/Senior School.

Sport is a privilege, not a right. Please review our 'Respecting the Right to Play' policy to familiarise yourself with expectations and protocols.

Sport is an integral aspect of life at Columba College where it is especially important to exhibit the school value of Grace: we learn to win (and lose) graciously. We also show good discipline at training, respect for officials, opponents and coaches, aroha for team members, citizenship at tournaments and excellence in our conduct on and off the field. Columba College requires that all sports codes abide by the Fair Play Charter and College requirements with regard to the conduct of players, coaches, managers, officials and supporters. At Columba College, we have a Sports contract that needs to be read and signed by all participating students, in consultation with their parents/caregivers. No Contract - No Play!
