Instructions on how to use Shrinkable Plastic to customize the look of your robot.
Search on your phone an image you would like to create. Example: Search for "bart simpson line art" and pick something you like
(Tips: a simple black & white image works best. Keep the image PG)
Screenshot the image you would like to copy. You can sometimes adjust the size of the image. The size of your phone’s screen is about the size you're looking for.
Use blue painter's tape to secure the shrinkable plastic (the frosty side not the glossy side) to the top of your phone. (Image 1)
Use provided sharpie to trace out the image. You can use fine tip marker for more details but remember simple seems to work better. (Image 2). You can use your finger to blend in the pastel if you desire.
Once you have done this, use pastel or colored pencils to fill in your design. (Image 3 & 4) These images will reduce in size about 75% when you shrink it. This will make all the colors darker.
Lay the finished image on the table. Use the heat gun at a hot setting to blow hot air all over the image. Use a chopstick to help keep the image under control because it will blow around a lot. (Image 5) Be careful not to touch the image because it will become hot to the touch.
As the image shrinks it will do so unevenly. (Image 6) You want to move the hot air from the heat gun all over but concentrate on the areas that have not shrunk as much as the other areas.
Once you are satisfied that the shrinking is done evenly, place a tile over the image to cool. (Image 7)
You can use the provided file to smooth out the edges if necessary. Don't use the file on the design or it can remove some of the detail.
Put a clear resign, UV-cured protective coating.
