In this first episode, we're getting happy! We'll get a play-by-play of the chemicals in our brain that trigger joyful feelings, and use the zoom ray to see what good vibes do for our bodies. We'll also hear about how each of us have different emotional thermostats and why thinking about our feelings can help us figure out what to do with them.

My traditional Day of the Dead recipe post is so popular each year that I decided to make a compilation of all of my favorite kid-friendly Day of the Dead Recipes. These are some of the best Day of the Dead recipes for kids I have found and we’ve made many of these at home. The Onion
By Idries Shah
In this richly illustrated book, a town full of people who have never before seen an onion, try to sum up the mysterious vegetable’s essence. But each person approaching the onion jumps immediately and inevitably to the wrong conclusion.
The Onion illustrates how people have a tendency to judge based on random coincidences and rash judgement. It is only when humans approach something with open-minded experimentation that sound and useful conclusions can be reached.
This whimsical story, featuring fabulously detailed spreads, transmits a vital message in a way that adults and children alike will appreciate.

By Clement Clarke Moore
Amid the many celebrations last Christmas Eve, in various places by different persons, there was one, in New York City, not like any other anywhere.

We made 3 batches of this recipe – one red, one white and one green. Be sure to change out your scent extract and food colouring for each one!
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Food colouring
Tip: We like these gel colours since the colours will turn out more vibrant, and you won’t need as much as the regular grocery store food colouring.
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
Optional – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for the white playdough and 1 teaspoon peppermint extract for the red. If you would like to make the green playdough scented, you can also have some peppermint extract to keep it taste safe.
Optional – White food colouring for the white playdough if you want to make your white playdough a bright white and not the natural playdough colour.

If you are going to carve a scary face into a bright orange pumpkin, the first thing you need is a bright orange pumpkin. And the prevalence of this autumn icon is a story a long time in the making.
Choose a variety of familiar objects from inside and outside the house (some ideas include cotton swabs, small rocks, a penny, a pencil, a plastic cup, an orange, a potato, a spoon, a leaf...) and, with your preschooler, carefully place them in the bathtub one by one.
Talk with your child about what you both observe using the words "sink" and "float." Separate the objects into a "sink" pile and a "float" pile and make some guesses with your child about why you each think some things float and some things sink. Collect some other objects and see if you can predict what they will do in water.

Claude McKay - 1889-1948
Some day, when trees have shed their leaves
And against the morning’s white
The shivering birds beneath the eaves
Have sheltered for the night,
We’ll turn our faces southward, love,
Toward the summer isle
Where bamboos spire to shafted grove
And wide-mouthed orchids smile.
And we will seek the quiet hill
Where towers the cotton tree,
And leaps the laughing crystal rill,
And works the droning bee.
And we will build a cottage there
Beside an open glade,
With black-ribbed blue-bells blowing near,
And ferns that never fade.

It's only when the seventh mouse goes out-and explores the whole Something-that the mice see the whole truth. Based on a classic Indian tale, Ed Young's beautifully rendered version is a treasure to enjoy again and again.
