We celebrated the historic trip around the moon with a small unit on the Artemis 2 mission. To get a sense of what life in the capsule is like, we "shrank" our workspace down to the 7 x 7 foot space of the capsule (delineated with tape on the floor). This was the space we did our desk work in for two weeks.
We learned about PROPULSION, LUNAR GEOGRAPHY, FISSION vs. FUSION, CHAIN REACTIONS, the SLS rocket system that got Artemis into orbit, and NASA's plans for a LUNAR COLONY as a step towards visiting Mars.
We launched rockets!
We used an awesome NASA project that let us simulate the observational part of the mission, identifying geographic features using images and a lunar map.
We simulated a chain reaction using mouse traps and wood beads.
