Welcome to the Colby Beginner Band Page. Here you will find important announcements, links, recordings, and other useful information. My goal is to use this site as an extension of the classroom and use it to enhance what is taking place on a daily basis. Technology is taking over, so we might as well embrace it!

What is Beginning Band?

Here at Colby, students entering the 6th grade have the opportunity to play a band instrument. They can choose between the Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone/Baritone, and percussion. Now you may notice that not all of the instruments are listed there. These instruments provide the foundation to the band, and can lead to other instruments down the road.

As part of the 6th grade band, you will have lessons once a week for 30 minutes. Depending on numbers, these lessons will be in small groups, or individual. We will also get together every so often to work as a full band. You will perform twice throughout the year, once for the Christmas Concert in December, and the second during the Spring Concert in May.
