Instructor Greeting:

My name is Larry Roberts and I am the fire instructor for the Urban/Rural Firefighting Class. I encourage you to join my class once you start your junior year in high school.

I have been teaching this class since 2012, and it is an introductory class to firefighting in finding out what the fire service is about. It is also, an opportunity for you to see if being a firefighter is in your future.

I retired from the Dinuba Fire Department in 2010 as the Assistant Fire Chief with nearly 29 years of service. Of those 29 years I was a volunteer firefighter for five years and a full time firefighter for 24 years. It was the most rewarding, knowing I could make a difference to those around me and to my community.

Now, I have this opportunity to share my experiences with you in the classroom, by teaching you firefighting is an occupation that, while dangerous, is a rewarding endeavor. So think about my class when it’s time to fill out your class schedule.
