What is Multi-Factor Authentication? Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a method that requires a user to provide two or more verification factors in order to gain access to a resource such as an application or online account. If you have done online banking, placed on online food order, changed devices to watch Apple TV, or reset your Amazon password chances are you have already experienced this. With MFA, rather than just asking for a username and password, one or more additional verification factors are required, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.
Why is the district using MFA? Starting on April15, 2022 all staff will be enrolled in Multi-Factor Authentication. The main benefit of MFA is it will enhance our district's security by requiring users to identify themselves by more than a username and password. While important, usernames and passwords are vulnerable to cyberattacks and can be stolen by third parties.
How do I start using MFA? Follow the steps in the slideshow to learn how to turn on and use Multi-Factor Authentication using the Authenticator App.

Note: For those that prefer an alternative, the district has purchased some Yubikeys (a physical key that needs to be with you and inserted into any district device). To request a Yubikey, please submit an IT Ticket.
