Stay the Course
Rather than a word of the week, this week is an IB Scholarly Phrase of the Week: Stay the Course "to keep going strongly to the end of a race or contest". This week we congratulate our IB Senior Class of 2021 for "staying the course" and submitting ALL of their IB coursework to IB on time! While many opted out, these 10 scholars stayed the course! Help Congratulate these Scholars for "staying the course "and reaching this stage of Accomplishment!
EXECUTION
The scholarly word of the week is EXECUTION: "the carrying out or putting into effect of a plan, order, or course of action" (Merriam Webster).

CARING
The IB Scholarly word of the week is CARING, one of the attributes of IB Learner Profile, which encourages scholars to show empathy, compassion and respect through a commitment to service and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us. Who knew such a common word, could be one of the most important actions in life? This week I challenge you to allow others to see the Caring attribute in what you say and do. Enjoy your week !
Open-Minded
The IB scholarly word of the week is OPEN-MINDED "willing to consider new ideas; unprejudiced" (Oxford Dictionary). Open-Minded is one of the attributes of the IB Learner profile: "students understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience" What can you be more open-minded about this week?
PERSEVERANCE
The IB scholarly word of the week is "PERSEVERANCE: Continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition" (Merriam Webster). ELEVATE
Hi Scholars, It's your IB Coordinator Ms. Robinson with the IB Scholarly Word of the week: ELEVATE: "to lift up, make higher or raise in rank or status" (Merriam Webster). UNWAVERING
Last week's scholarly word of the week, RISK-TAKER mirrors this week's word UNWAVERING: "continuing in a strong and steady way" (Merriam Webster). Last week the IB Seniors of 2021 were UNWAVERING in their efforts to not be left behind in submitting their work to meet IB's official deadline. They were Risk-Takers by adjusting a few things in their schedule to prioritize meeting their academic goals! We are very proud of you C/O 21 ! Keep Pushing! We are approaching the finish line!
BALANCE
The IB Learner Profile describes BALANCE as "Understanding the importance of balancing different aspects of your lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for yourselves and others".
Being intentional about implementing BALANCE in your life is a strategy teachers and students can use to combat procrastination, which we know can lead to burnout and feeling Overwhelmed! Use an online planner to create a schedule that helps you prioritize time to complete your school priorities, work hours , family time, extra responsibilities and have time for self care.
RISK-TAKING!!!
Risk- Taking: Approaching uncertainty with forethought and determination by working independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies; resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change. SELF-ASSURANCE
The IB scholarly word of the week is "Self- Assurance: having confidence in yourself and your abilities" (Merriam Webster). Self- assurance is another way of thinking, saying and believing "I Got this!" Passing classes, extra-curricular activities, college applications, applying for scholarships, working after school, helping family! Yes, you are tired. ACTION
This week's word of the week is Action "the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim" (Merriam Webster, 2020). So often we focus on the simple meaning(s) of a word. What are the "Actions" you can take to achieve something you aim to accomplish, finish, complete, or earn?
EMPOWERMENT
Last week I encouraged you to be optimistic about a positive outcome in your classes and reminding yourself that you are resilient. This week's word "Empowerment" means the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights (Merriam Webster). This week I encourage scholars to "Empower" themselves to get back on track, ask for help, and stay optimistic about a positive outcome at the end of the semester.
OPTIMISM
This week's scholarly word is "Optimism" hopefulness and confidence about the successful outcome of something. (Merriam Webster)
This week I challenge all IB scholars to be Optimistic scholars who believe they will succeed !
