The IB Diploma Program is for students in grades 11 & 12.
To be a candidate for an IB Diploma (separate from the high school diploma), students must:
take examinations in at least 6 subjects
IB English Language & Literature
IB World Language (French and Spanish are offered at West Charlotte)
IB History of the Americas
IB Biology
IB Math Studies/IB Math Applications (course name is changing for the Class of 2021 and beyond)
IB sixth subject (options include IB Visual Arts, IB Psychology, and IB Sports & Exercise Science)
take the IB Theory of Knowledge course and pass all assessments
write an argumentative research paper called the Extended Essay
complete Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) activities
To earn an IB Diploma, students must:
earn at least 24 points from their 6 examinations (exams are scored on a scale from 1 to 7)
earn at least 12 points from three Higher Level (HL) examinations
earn at least 9 points from three Standard Level (HL) examinations
earn a score of A - D on both Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay
earn no more than two scores of 2 on examinations
earn scores of higher than 1 on all examinations
earn scores of 3 or higher on at least 3 examinations
complete CAS requirements
