Butler Registration Card (during registration time only)
CPCC Hold: This is a time period where students will leave Butler HS campus. Students can use this time to go home and work on their online class or attend a class at a CPCC location. You must request these holds with your counselor during registration time.
JR: Can leave after 3rd period
SR: Can leave after 2nd period
You can plan your classes about a month before class registration so you know when classes will meet and what is offered. You can do this in MyCollege. Planning your classes doesn't mean you are registered. Planning is like putting something in your Amazon cart. It is in there, but has not been checkout.
If you do not register for classes on or before the deadline, the CPCC holds for early dismissal at Butler will be dropped and your alternative class/classes on your course card will be added) . You can still register for CPCC classes after Butler hours or online.
You register on your own. Please come see Mrs. Walker or Mr. Coleman (located in Student Services) if you have any questions, issues, or need help registering.
RETURNING STUDENTS: You must reapply for each term/semester you want to take classes for.
Be a Junior or Senior and on track for graduation
-Summer Classes: Between JR & SR year and Sr Year (Classes run from May-July)
Be able to provide own transportation to CPCC Campus location or take online classes. Butler/CMS doesn't provide transportation.
Maintain a 2.0 GPA at CPCC after completing two courses.
2.8 Unweighted GPA or higher (College Transfer Pathways & Career Pathways)
Below a 2.8 Unweighted GPA (Select Career Pathways-See pathway sheet)

Benchmark assessment scores. If you use scores instead of the GPA, you will need to email Mrs. Walker a PDF copy of your scores.
You can find your scores by creating an account at ACT.org/SAT.org

-Pass Pre-Cal at Butler with a "C" or better AND 3.5 unweighted GPA or higher
If you know what degree you would like to graduate with (in college), you can go to the college website and see the classes you would need for that degree and then compare to how they match up to CPCC.
If you looking at an out-of-state and/or private college/university, please look at the school’s website or call to see how classes will transfer.
How to Submit AP Scores to CPCC:
Log into your College Board account: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/
Request your official AP score report to be sent to CPCC.
Once sent, download the PDF copy of your scores.
Email the PDF to records@cpcc.edu from your CPCC student email (submissions must come from your CPCC email for security).

College Transfer Pathway -General education classes for a two-year or four-year college degree. NOTE: Not all courses will transfer to ALL colleges and universities, make sure you research the schools of interest to verify acceptance of the transfer credits.
Career & Technical Education Pathway
Over 50 different pathways where students can start career training while still in high school. Students can earn credits toward a job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career. Some Career and Technical Pathways require a minimum 2.8 Unweighted GPA AND benchmark assessment scores in all areas of English, Reading, and Math.
*You can choose one College Transfer Pathway and one Career and Technical Education Pathway OR two Career and Technical Education Pathways. You will only be able to register for classes in the pathway(s) you select. You will not be earning an Associates Degree in this program.
Career and College Promise classes are in addition to Butler /CMS classes and are done outside of Butler schedule or during early dismissal periods. CMS graduation requirements are done at Butler.
Only exception: 4th CMS Math= 1 CPCC Math
You can only register for classes in the pathway(s) you select; otherwise, you will be considered out of pathway and will be dropped from the course(s).
The courses you want might not be available each semester and may not be available the days/times you want. There is also no guarantee that "seats" will be open when you register for classes (classes are on a first-come, first-served basis).
There are online, in-person, and hybrid courses available and can meet during the day, evening, night. Look under MyCollege to see and plan your class schedule.
The college offers 16 week, 12 week, 8 week, and even 4 week classes (4 week classes are typically not recommended for dual enrollment students).
YOU are responsible for knowing your CPCC schedule and showing up (Mrs. Walker will not remind you). If you are taking an online class, your professor will email you on your CPCC email before class starts (sometimes the day before).
You can not drop a class after the class starts: I suggest at least three days before so it gives CPCC time to process the drop request). See Mrs. Walker before you drop a class. If a class is dropped after the deadline, you could fail the course (CPCC and Butler). Butler High School cannot access student records at CPCC.
Course name and number will be added to your Butler schedule once classes start and CPCC sends Mrs. Walker a list of classes you are registered for. They will show up as your early dismissal period or as an EXT on your Butler schedule (any class that is 3 or more credits).
Online Classes: Please check your CPCC email from your professor. Brightspace is the online platform used by CPCC (similar to Canvas). Online classes are work on your own and submit when the professor says it is due (no specific meeting time). EVA will be your first assignment.
If you receive a 504 or other services at Butler, you will not automatically receive that at CPCC. You will need to reach out to Student Services at CPCC. They will provide you with the next steps.
CPCC tuition is waived for CMS Career and College Promise students (for all semesters, including summer)
Textbooks: Central Piedmont has moved to the IncludED program which makes digital and printed course materials available to all Central Piedmont students enrolled in college credit classes. Learn what is included in the IncludED program here. Students attending a non-Title I CMS high school receive full funding for their required books in fall and spring semesters through the IncludED program, but lab kits and anything outside the IncludED program are not covered.
Summer Courses: Students are responsible for all student fees and textbooks
*Fees (Summer only): You pay fees for each class--Click here to see the fees and deadlines -paid through CPCC-MyCollege before class starts
-Read about all the fee amounts including the inclusive access fees
-Payment Dates:
https://www.cpcc.edu/admissions/tuition-and-payment/payment-dates-for-college-credit-courses
Student fees must be paid by the deadline given by CPCC to prevent being dropped from course(s). Check your balance and pay your bill through your MyCollege account. Fees are non-refundable once the semester starts. For questions about the fee structure, please contact the Sponsored Programs office at 704.330.4262.
Fall/Spring Courses: The cost of any additional course materials will be the student's responsibility. If you get an email that you owe tuition for fall or spring, please ignore and CMS will pay the tuition and fees closer to your class start date.
Lab kits are not covered by CMS (ex: Cosmology, Science, Math, and etc.)
Due to budgetary constraints, students may be responsible for the full cost of textbooks.
The student will be responsible for any additional costs of the class (example: extra textbooks, programs, lab kits, and etc.).
Attendance at CPCC classes is required
You must follow CPCC'S academic calendar (Click Here) in addition to the CMS academic calendar. You will start school in the fall and spring at least one week prior to the start of the CMS semester. You might also be attending CPCC classes during CMS holidays, fall and spring break, and teacher workdays.
Students can't stay on the Butler campus during their CPCC Hold(s). You will leave Butler's campus when you have early dismissal periods.
The grade(s) you receive from courses taken while enrolled in the program will count twice (college and high school). If a class is less than 3 credits, the course will be added on your Butler transcript but will be not be counted in your Butler GPA. Some Career & Technical courses will combine credits and count toward your GPA if taken in the same semester.
College Transfer Pathway Course(s): Will be listed on your high school transcript as a 5-point scale (similar to Advanced Placement scale).
CTE Pathway Course(s): The CTE courses will have a different scale (most will count as an elective scale on the high school transcript).
Grades will be added to you Butler PowerSchool at the end of the semester when Mrs. Walker receives your grades from CPCC.
Courses at CPCC are given a letter grade, this will be converted to a number grade using the chart to the left.
GRADUATING SENIORS: To send your CPCC transcript to your preferred college, you will need to submit that request through CPCC. You will then meet with your academic counselor at your college and go over how your CPCC classes will transfer to your new school. Click Here
