I have both Swedish and Italian lineage. My mom's family came from Sweden. Both her mother and father, my grandparents, came from Sweden. My grandmother, Emma, came from Stockholm when she was very young and my grandfather, Adrian Sandstrom, came from northern Sweden, Umea. After first settling in North Dakota my grandfather moved to Jamestown, NY where I was born and raised. Once thing I remember from my grandmother Emma was when she would make Swedish pancakes for my brother and I. My dad's family came from Italy. My great-grandfather came from a village in Sicily, Noto. Noto is on the east coast of Sicily near the city of Syracuse. My great-grandfather Frank originally settled in New York with his brother who already emigrated to the United States. He spent some time in Cincinnati, Birmingham (where he had another brother) and eventually settled in Logan, West Virginia. My grandfather Sireno was born in West Virginia and grew up there until moving his family, including my father, to Jamestown, NY.
Fun fact, my grandmother Jean Anne, is related to the Hatfield family that is infamous for the Hatfield-McCoy Feud in West Viriginia in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
