As a Caucasian male I do not show the overall diversity of America in my physical makeup. Yet, that does not mean I cannot seek to better understand the many diverse regions of the world in which we live. By exploring the vast and beautiful areas of the world we live in, we can gain a better understanding of those around us. We learn to better understand others cultural perspectives and why others do what they do. We cannot never fully know and understand everything about what other people may go through, but it doesn't mean we cannot try to gain a more broad cultural understanding of those that are different from ourselves.
My wife and I have traveled to many places around the world and have learned so much about the rich history and culture of many other places (Peru, Singapore, Cambodia, China, Oman, to name a few). We have learned to see the world through others eyes and not just through the American bubble. But also through travel you gain not just a better understanding of others, but you grow to love the place in which you are from even more. Travel and experience with other cultures transcends politics, racism, and any form of hatred or ethnocentrism. This is because it is really hard to dislike someone when you truly try to get to know them and come to the understanding that you are more alike then you are different.
