Hello Vikings!
I am excited to continue with the North Meck family this year. I moved to Charlotte and became a CMS Counselor in 2017, and I was previously HS Counselor in New York for 10 years. Before that, I worked in the college setting. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
I love traveling, live vicariously through Hallmark movies and enjoy relaxing oceanfront in the sun. My advice to students is, "Shoot for the moon and you will land among the stars!"

I am a Charlotte native who attended Briarwood Elementary, Cochrane Middle School, and West Charlotte Senior High. After graduating from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, I matriculated to the UNC at Chapel Hill (UNC) and studied Sociology. While in undergraduate school at UNC, I was a member of the Marching Sound Machine at North Carolina Central University. Naturally, after graduation, I attended North Carolina Central University for a Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling. I currently hold an Associate Professional Mental Health Counseling License and I am working on other College and Career Counseling Certifications. I have been a High School Counselor for at least eight years, but I hope to continue to work towards one day blending my passion for School, Career, and College counseling into a business for people in our community.
In collaboration with Learning and Language Acquisition Staff, I work to provide intensive reach to parents and families of English Learner students at home, in the community, and at school. I serve to enhance communication and understanding between families of English Learner students, school, information regarding school and/or district expectations. I assist with families' requests or concerns, and I make referrals to other community agencies. I engage with EL parents and families in the development and understanding of the Title III parent and family engagement guidance, the Title III plan, and the School Improvement Plan (SIP). I also collaborate with the School Leadership Team (SLT). These supports will provide parent engagement to lead the student to academic achievement and build better citizenship.
I am your College and Career Coach, Ms. Hight.
I am here to help you discover your passion and guide you on your career path after graduation.
Life after graduation, what’s the blueprint?
Would you like to: Enter the workforce? Pick up a trade? Attend a 2-year institution/community college? Attend a 4-year institution? Join the military?
Throughout your high school career, I will present to your classes, help you take career assessments, meet with you one on one, helping you understand the process of financial aid and how to navigate through the steps you need to have a successful future.
Greetings Everyone! This is my second year serving as the School Psychologist for North Meck. I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist with an array of experience in human service, research, and student academic success. Prior to my graduate studies, I spent time at my alma mater (Winston-Salem State University - GO RAMS!) conducting research and studying Psychology that focused on positive school climate from a youth perceived lens. My love for both education and psychology drew me to this profession, and I have been enjoying the journey! My colleagues and friends would say that I am punctual, authentic, and motivated. In my free time I enjoy running, grilling, and spending time with my family. I am excited to continue to support students and staff here at North Meck!
This is my first year servicing North Meck as one of my three schools and my 21st year in education. My journey began as a teacher, grades K-6th. Later, I became a Literacy Facilitator, MTSS Coordinator, School Counselor and now a 504 Case Manager.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College of New York, my Master’s Degree in Family and Mental Health/School Counseling from Long Island University of New York and my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Wingate University, NC.
