9th Grade Counselors

Hello Vikings!

I am excited to continue with the North Meck family this year. I moved to Charlotte and became a CMS Counselor in 2017, and I was previously HS Counselor in New York for 10 years. Before that, I worked in the college setting. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

I love traveling, live vicariously through Hallmark movies and enjoy relaxing oceanfront in the sun. My advice to students is, "Shoot for the moon and you will land among the stars!"

This is my second year as a School Counselor at North Mecklenburg High School. I was also at North two years ago as a School Counseling Intern! I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Western Illinois University in 2015, my Master of Science Degree in General/Experimental Psychology from Western Illinois University in 2020, and my Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling from UNC Charlotte in 2022.

I am originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago in Illinois, but I have lived in the Charlotte area for roughly five years. I enjoy spending time with my family (wife, son, and two dogs), playing guitar, and reading comics.

10th-12th Grade Counselors

I have been a School Counselor at North Mecklenburg High School since Jan 2012. During this time, I have held every possible role ranging from MCV Liaison to Department chair for many years. I am currently the SSPLC facilitator.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Shaw University 2000, and my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from North Carolina Central University in 2009. I have been in Education for 23+ years.

I have been a School Counselor at North Mecklenburg High School since December 2016, moved into the Co-Chair position in 2021, and became Chairperson in 2023. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from UNC Wilmington in 2006 and my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from UNC Charlotte in 2012.

I live with my husband and our two cats by the lake. I enjoy spending time on the lake, doing crossword puzzles, and baking in my spare time.

Hey y'all, I'm Mr. Thomas and I'm so excited to be at North Meck! I have been an educator for 7 years and have experience as a teacher and as a school counselor. I graduated from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) so feel free to ask me about my experiences at both Universities!

I love to cook, read, listen to music, watch sports and spend time with my family. I am a huge fan of the Detroit Lions, Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia 76ers.

I am a retired school counselor with over 35 years of experience as a dedicated educator. My goal is to advocate for students to exceed their expectations. I have worked hard to provide a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which every child is encouraged to grow and mature – emotionally, socially, and intellectually.   I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.

I am originally from Northeastern North Carolina, but relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2002. When I am not enjoying retirement, I spend my time working in interim positions in CMS.  I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.  I strongly believe that every child has a dream that education can fulfill. My advice to students is to “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready!"

I am going into my 4th year at North Meck. It is great to be a Viking again. I have been in education since 1999. I started out teaching and moved in as a school counselor in 2013.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree from the Rising Star in the North, Elizabeth City State University (#HBCUPRIDE), where I was a student athlete (football). I earned my 1st Master's Degree in Special Education in 2009, and my 2nd Master's in School Counseling in 2013 from Liberty University.

I am a husband, a father of two wonderful young adults, I have two granddogs (Kazier & Casey), and I am member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. In my spare time I coach football, mountain bike, and I am a member of the advisory board for Dream On 3 Foundation.

I am a Charlotte native who attended Briarwood Elementary, Cochrane Middle School, and West Charlotte Senior High. After graduating from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, I matriculated to the UNC at Chapel Hill (UNC) and studied Sociology. While in undergraduate school at UNC, I was a member of the Marching Sound Machine at North Carolina Central University. Naturally, after graduation, I attended North Carolina Central University for a Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling. I currently hold an Associate Professional Mental Health Counseling License and I am working on other College and Career Counseling Certifications. I have been a High School Counselor for at least eight years, but I hope to continue to work towards one day blending my passion for School, Career, and College counseling into a business for people in our community.

Mr. Rogers (Bilingual ML Family/School Advocate)

I serve to enhance communication and understanding between families of English Learner students, school, information regarding school and/or district expectations. I assist with families' requests or concerns, and I make referrals to other community agencies. I engage with EL parents and families in the development and understanding of the Title III parent and family engagement guidance, the Title III plan, and the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
