About Ms. Murphy
My name is Madeline Murphy and I am originally from Chicago, but moved to Charlotte when I was in middle school! I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and graduated in 2020 with a degree in history and minors in secondary education and Holocaust, genocide, and human rights studies. I taught social studies at Mallard Creek High School in CMS for five years before transitioning to school counseling. I will graduate from UNCC with my masters degree in counseling, with dual concentrations in school counseling and clinical mental health, in summer 2026. I love getting to know my students and forming strong relationships with them. I feel very lucky to get to support students as they grow and change throughout their schooling! Outside of school I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, yoga, and traveling. I also like to spend time baking and cooking for my friends and family.

About Ms. Litchfield
My name is Kristen Litchfield, and I grew up in Swansea, Massachusetts. I received my Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Communication from Bridgewater State College. I moved to North Carolina in 1997 and began my career in education as an Elementary School Teacher. I then attended UNC Charlotte for my graduate program in School Counseling. Since then, I have been working as a school counselor at both the Elementary and Middle School levels (Middle School is my favorite!). I have my clinical counseling license (LCMHCA) for the state of North Carolina. I enjoy helping students discover all of the possibilities within themselves as they learn and grow emotionally and socially. Middle School can be a challenging time, and I appreciate the opportunity to help students navigate their way through it. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, hiking, and running. I share my home with my sweet cat Piper, who allows me to exist in her space.

About Ms. Tapia
My name is Ann Tapia, and of the many places I've lived, including my homeland of Puerto Rico & Columbia, SC, the Charlotte area is the one I've called home the longest. I graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a major in English literature & minors in secondary education & Spanish in 2014, and I taught 6th grade ELA here in CMS at Piedmont IB Middle for 10 years. Fall 2025 I will graduate from my master's program at UNCC with dual concentrations in school & clinical mental health counseling.
My favorite part of classroom teaching was developing relationships with kids & supporting their social/emotional needs. Moving to school counseling was the logical progression for my career, which I'm thrilled to pick up at McClintock after my internship here in spring 2025.
At home you'll find me hanging out with my sweet calico kitty Ekaterina and my "niece," Caboodle, as well as her owner, my younger sibling (& best friend). I love playing video games, learning crafts, attending comic conventions, and the color pink.
Hello and welcome to McClintock Middle School. I am ecstatic to be part of the Mighty Scots Family. I was born and raised in Champaign, Illinois where I played basketball and softball in high school. I was fortunate to obtain an athletic scholarship to Alabama A & M University (1990-95) where I played Women’s Basketball. After graduating, I lived in Lanett, Alabama and moved back to Champaign to coach Girls Basketball and obtain a teaching certificate from Eastern Illinois University to teach Career & Technical Education at Urbana High School (2009-2016). I moved to Lake Wylie, South Carolina in the Summer of 2016 and thus began my employment with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
As a Career Development Coordinator, I am responsible for helping each student develop a career plan for their Post Secondary goals and aspirations. Students will be given a Career Interest Survey to determine what career would best fit them. In addition, students will gain real world experience through our Career Lab, Career Fairs, field trips, speaker presentations, VR Googles, and other career activities or events that will help summarize what career(s) they want to obtain in the years to come. In all, students will have a multitude of opportunities to gauge their interests, research potential careers, experience the skills needed for today’s workforce, and make a decision that could impact their futures. Why not start now? Are you ready? Let’s do it!
