Sophomore Year
Begin the conversation with your parents/guardians about your post-secondary plans:
Will you attend a four-year college/university?
Will you attend a community college first and then transfer to a four-year college/university?
Will you attend a two-year college or community college to earn your associates degree?
Will you join the military?
Will you get a job and join the workforce?
Talk with your school counselor about your post-secondary plans to ensure you're taking the correct classes and aligning your high school plans with your post-secondary plans. Make sure that you register for courses that are realistic for you and align with your goals.
Take the PSAT and PreACT in the Fall. Take the results of these exams seriously. Use your test results to focus on areas of growth and spend time studying and improving in those subjects.
Take career/personality assessments to help you better understand what career options would be a good fit for you and to continue your career exploration.
Attend local or regional college fairs.
Continue doing your best in your classes. Your GPA will continue to change as you take classes, and your class rank will shift based on your final grades in your classes.
Begin your resume and keep an ongoing list of extracurricular involvement.
Participate in a summer enrichment program.
