Freshman Year
Review Graduation Requirements and make a four-year high school plan. Think about the courses you want to take during your four years and what is required for your post-secondary pathway. Make sure that you are enrolled in the correct courses and learn about the levels of courses that are offered at Mallard Creek.
Meet with your high school counselor. Your counselor knows how to help you get the most out of high school. Take time during registration to discuss your goals and future plans with them.
Start thinking about life after high school, including the path you will take. Whether it's joining the military, entering into the workforce, or going to college, begin thinking about what you need to do to set yourself up for success. Identify your interests, skills, and abilities. Talk to professionals, teachers, and recent graduates about careers that you find interesting.
Participate in extracurricular activities. Explore opportunities that interest you, such as athletics, student clubs and organizations, music or theatre, or community volunteer activities. Join extracurriculars that you're passionate about and will enjoy outside of the classroom. Keep a record of these activities to use for your resume.
Focus on your classes and strive to make good grades! Your grade point average and class rank are calculated in 9th grade. Every class counts and will affect your cumulative GPA, so make sure that you do your best and get help when you need it.
