Service as Action

Reflection Log for Individual Choice Actions. 

(please note that this form should be completed by the student and NOT the parent.  The form can only be accessed via a CMS student account. )

6th Grade Service Requirements for 2023-24

Students do not log Service HOURS.  We have moved to Service ACTIONS.  

• Complete 1 Action per semester and submit a reflection form.  2 Actions per year

• Reflections must be submitted in a timely manner.  Reflections are most beneficial when the details of the action are easy to remember.

• Actions will be organized as a school, however students can choose to complete Individual Choice Activities in addition to the School-Wide Activities.   The first action will be in September at Piedmont when we organize our International Day of Peace Event. 

• Family involvement in the community is still encouraged.

• Recognition and incentives are available for students that go above and beyond the required 2 actions. .  

7th Grade (The same as above except.... )

• 2 School planned event (1 per semester) and 1 additional Individual Action are the minimum requirements.

•  Individual Choice Activities can be any events in the local community, supporting an 8th grade community project event, school advertised events outside of school - like a stream clean-up or a campus clean-up etc...

Upcoming Events and Reminders.....

This Saturday is the Fall Campus Clean-up.  Our sign-up for the event is full - but you can email Mrs. Thornburg if you'd still like to attend.  This is from 9am-11am on Saturday September 30.

October - Several 8th grade community project events will be coming.... Information will be shared on morning announcements, through Dr. Barone's Saturday announcements and in the weekly grade level newsletters. October 28 is the Charlotte Walk for Autism Speaks/ October 21st is the Charlotte Walk for Breast Cancer

November - The Veteran's Day Breakfast, The Light the Night Event at Memorial Stadium, the Hungry and Homeless Event and many other 8th grade projects will be advertised. 

If you are absent on the day of a school-wide event (like the Peace Day event) you may not log that activity.  You will need to find an individual activity to log instead.  You must be present for the event to receive credit for it. 

You may volunteer with your family outside of school to receive credit for actions, but it is your responsibility to log that action. 

If you have completed all your actions you are still expected to participate in any of the school-wide actions/events that are planned.
