PIEDMONT WALK FOR EDUCATION FRIDAY MARCH 6TH WAS AN EVENT TO REMEMBER!
WE WALKED 1,000 STUDENTS AND 85 ADULTS STRONG!
STUDENTS WALKED FROM PIEDMONT MIDDLE IB TO FREEDOM PARK AND BACK AGAIN. THE WALK WAS THE CULMINATING EVENT FOR OUR YEAR-LONG SCHOOL-WIDE BOOK READ ENTITLED THE BOY WHO HARNESSED THE WIND. THE SETTING OF OUR BOOK WAS MALAWI AFRICA AND WE HAVE SUPPORTED GODI VILLAGE MALAWI FOR MANY YEARS AT PIEDMONT. WE RAISED 5,000 DOLLARS TO HELP BUILD EDUCATIONAL BUILDINGS FOR VILLAGES IN MALAWI THAT GIVES OPPORTUNITIES FOR AN EDUCATION IN MUCH CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THEIR HOMES. OUR STUDENTS WALKED 6.3 MILES ON FRIDAY TO DEVELOP A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT MANY CHILDREN ACROSS OUR GLOBE MUST ENDURE DAILY TO GET TO SCHOOL. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THE SUPPORT FROM OUR STUDENTS, STAFF, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS FOR MAKING THIS IB SERVICE LEARNING EVENT POSSIBLE.

Open Streets 2019 was a huge success. Our Students did an amazing job painting the giant fish on Mint Street. Check it out next time you are driving down Mint toward West Blvd. The image to the far right is our finished work.
