It’s that time of year! The IB Ambassador application process has officially begun for current 6th- and 7th-grade students who are interested in serving as an IB Ambassador next year.

This year the process is a little different than it has been in the past.  Please follow these instructions and adhere to due dates. 

What does it mean to be an IB Ambassador?  Our Ambassador team is top notch.  These students have lots of opportunities to speak to adults, students, and staff about the IB program and what it means to be a Piedmont IB Student.  This year we had multiple visitors to our school from districts in South Carolina, Tennessee, and across our own district wanting to learn more about how we do IB here at Piedmont Middle, IB.  Many of our IB students sat in on student panels to field questions from our guests.  Our Ambassadors host recruitment nights and welcome perspective families with tours of the school and sharing their Piedmont experience.  Our Ambassador team serves as a soundboard for the student body.  They keep Mrs. Thornburg and the staff informed on the needs and stressors of the students in the building.  They help support IB school-wide activities like the International Day of Peace and take information back to their classes from our monthly meetings.  IB Ambassadors meet at 8am in the media center on the first Tuesday of each month.  The Ambassador team elects a President, Vice-President, and Secretary.  Our Ambassador team also forms committees and chairs lead the committees and report to the whole group on any projects they are working on or any ideas they have for the group.  Ambassadors also work on bulletin boards, IB Wednesday school-wide lessons and international celebrations like Diwali, black history month, and Hispanic Heritage Month. If you have any questions about being an IB Ambassador please reach out to Mrs. Thornburg.  The application is open to current 6th and 7th grade students to serve next school year. 

Wednesday April 22nd- Interested students may pick up the Teacher Recommendation Forms outside of Mrs. Thornburg's office on the table in the media center.  They should be delivered to a current Piedmont Teacher (this can be a core or encore teacher).  The teachers will turn the recommendation forms in to Mrs. Thornburg.  They should not be given back to the student.  Each student needs 3.  Additionally, All applicants need a service submission verification form from the homeroom teacher.  If there are any problems with this part of the process - see Mrs. Thornburg for verification. Teachers will have forms back to Mrs. Thornburg by Monday April, 27th. SO - All students should have the forms given to the homeroom teacher no later than Friday April, 24th.  Teachers will not accept a recommendation request after Friday April 24th.  

Tuesday April 28th - All students that are eligible will receive an application to apply for Ambassadorship. Only those students with recommendations from teachers and that have completed their service action submission (2 for 6th grade and 3 for 7th grade) will receive a hard copy of the application.  There are no digital forms of the application. The applications will be due by Friday, May 1st.
