On Friday, September 18, all 7th grade students will participate in Peace Day 2026 in the Auditorium. This event serves as the first of three required Service as Action experiences for MYP Year 2 students. Piedmont will provide a second Service as Action opportunity through 8th Grade Community Project presentations later this fall. Students will complete the third requirement through a service experience of their choice outside of school-sponsored activities.
We need your help in planning the International Day of Peace Event this year. I'd love to have some extra hands and ideas. 8th grade student, Jocelyn will be working on the organization as her Community Project this year. We also need student participation. Student participation makes for a great assembly and art gallery. The more the students participate- the more meaningful their service engagment reflection will be as well.

Students spent Friday September 19 engaged in Peace Day activities. They created their symbols on the field, created their handprints with their pledge for peace, they made paper cranes, created peace day slides and made the Frayer Model for Peace. The students then completed their REFLECTION on Peace Day for their school-wide Community Engagement. Our first of two school-wide events this year.

Our Inaugural Year celebrating Peace Day at Irwin Academic Center Campus. This event was planned and executed through IB Ambassadors and high school students that wanted to support this special Peace Day. It was on Saturday Sept. 21, 2019. We had music, Indian Dance, Poetry Reciting, Face Painting and Hand Prints. Student art was on display. We came together as a group and made the peace symbol as a collective group of people working together. Ms. Deming, the TD Coordinator at Irwin at the time helped make it happen. The elementary students particpated with families as well.
