Mission Statement:

The mission of the School Counseling Department at Hawthorne Academy is to prepare all students for post secondary education and citizenship in the 21st century. As a comprehensive and data-driven school counseling program we collaborate with students, parents and staff members to address social/emotional, academic achievement, and college/career readiness. We strive to empower students to achieve personal and career goals through individual counseling, small groups and classroom guidance.

Vision Statement:

Hawthorne Academy's School Counseling Department's vision is for all students to finish high school ready for college or entering the workforce, and possessing 21st Century Skills. As 21st Century leaders, they are equipped for the challenges, responsibilities, and are able to make contributions to their global generation. Graduates of Hawthorne Academy embody personal and social growth, they are leaders, they are stewards in their community, and demonstrate ethical behavior. In addition, they are prepared to make changes in the world and a difference in the lives of others and their community.

The Student Services Department provides:

Academic Development

  • Academic advisement for course selection and career exploration

  • Support for students and academic achievement

  • Classroom guidance activities

  • Consultation and Collaboration with parents, teachers, and community for academic success

  • Support to create a safe and positive learning experience

Career Development

  • Support in college research and application process

  • Assistance with scholarship search

  • Career and college classroom guidance activities

  • Assistance with evaluating interests, abilities, skills and achievement

  • Parent workshops and information sessions


Social/Emotional Development

  • Individual counseling with students
