What is it: Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) is a comprehensive teaching and learning program and process provides a singular methodology that builds equitable district culture at all levels of the organization that is consistent across students and adults starting at the leadership level and progressing throughout all levels of the organization. Teachers, staff, and administrators learn and practice skills they will use and model in their classrooms, schools, and districts, including:
How to build meaningful, productive relationships with every student and every colleague.
How to use the Capturing Kids’ Hearts EXCEL Teaching Model to create a safe, effective environment for learning.
How to develop self-managing, high-performing classrooms using team-building skills and a Social Contract.
High payoff techniques for dealing with conflict, negative behavior, and disrespect issues.
Expectations: All schools will complete Capturing Kids' Hearts within three (3) years. For the year of implementation, the principal and leadership team will need to attend a one day Leadership Blueprint session prior to the start of the school year. School staff will attend a two day Capturing Kids' Hearts session fostering staff culture development prior to the start of the school year. Central office support staff can also attend to ensure seamless integration with social emotional learning and other districtwide strategies supporting student achievement.
