Jon Rochester - Social Worker
This is my 10th year as a school social worker serving the needs of students and their families within CMS. This is my first year at Ardrey Kell and I am excited to join the AK team as one of the school's first school social workers.
As the school social worker, I work to remove barriers (social/emotional, financial, basic needs) for students and their families to enable the best possible outcomes for educational excellence.
I received my undergraduate from Appalachian State University in Psychology and my master's degree in social work from UNCC. I am also a native Charlottean who grew up in south charlotte. I love spending time with my wife and 3 dogs. We love to travel and spend time on the beach or by the pool. I also enjoy mountain biking, exercising, and yoga. I also love NFL football, go Panthers!!!
My "Top 5" advice for students:
Relationships are important - "don't burn bridges"
Do what you are passionate about and what gives you joy
Be kind and advocate for yourself and others
Work on finding "balance" between school, work, and social life
Ask for help when you need it - We all need it sometimes.
