Description

The EE&C cell organised an awareness session on ‘Studying Abroad’ on 10th August 2018 in the Civil AV Hall., The program kick started with motivational message from Prof. Sharmila.K.P and subsequently the Placement Director Mr. Lakshman Malla seconded her views. Later the program continued with a series of talks by members of different coaching institutions. In addition, the session ended with a talk by CMRIT alumnus Anoop Joseph, who has been accepted into Northeastern University, Boston. The session was attended by second, third and fourth year students, who were looking towards a foreign education.



Summary

The awareness session on ‘Studying Abroad’ provided essential information on the process of applying to foreign universities. The speakers were Mr Ajeeth Peo Francis, Director and Co-founder of PlusPrep Education, Mr Pankaj Talwar, General Manager of Jamboree Education, Mr Prabhakar Rao, Senior Trainer from the Manhattan Review, and CMRIT alumnus Anoop Joseph. The speakers discussed the various aspects of acquiring admission abroad, such as the GRE, TOEFL and IELTS examinations, premier institutions and their eligibility criteria, courses, etc. They also spoke about financing foreign education, such as loans, scholarships and grants. Each talk had a PowerPoint presentation, which displayed sample questions from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) along with details about the academic requirements, applications and expenses. CMRIT Alumnus Anoop concluded the session by elaborating on the whole process of admission into a premier institution and answered numerous questions about his experience. Moreover, he provided an insight into the life of an Indian student in the USA and the importance of planning in advance.

The session was extremely helpful as it provided details on studying abroad and also clarified the idea of foreign education. The students were able to clear their doubts and understand the process of applying to an international institution. Overall, the session was informative and interactive.
