Welcome to the Theatre Guild, and welcome to Kirkwood High School! My name is Brittany Thompson, and I am the Theatre teacher, Theatre Guild Sponsor, Speech Team Coach and International Thespians Society Sponsor. This is my 8th year of teaching, and I am thrilled to be building this program with you! When I am not at school, I am usually spending time with my husband, three amazing kids, and dogs and cats at my home in Kentucky. I love gardening, reading books, spending time outdoors, crocheting, and seeing plays. I began my journey in theatre in middle school and continued through college. I have most recently performed at the Alhambra Theatre in Hopkinsville in a production of 9 to 5 as a member of the ensemble and as Mrs. Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I love what I do and can’t wait to share it with you.

The Theatre Guild

Our Theatre Guild produces two mainstage productions each year, offering opportunities for students to shine both onstage and behind the scenes. All students are welcome to audition or join our technical crew—no experience required! We hold monthly meetings to plan events, build community, and prepare for upcoming shows.

Our Goals

1. Foster an Inclusive Community

Goal: Create a welcoming environment where all students feel encouraged to participate—regardless of experience, background, or skill level.
The Theatre Guild will ensure that auditions, crew positions, and meetings are open to everyone. We aim to make theatre accessible by promoting respect, collaboration, and support among all members.

2. Produce High-Quality Productions

Goal: Present two polished and engaging mainstage productions each year.
Students will work together as performers, designers, and technicians to bring stories to life. Through rehearsals, tech work, and creative problem-solving, we will strive to deliver productions that make our school proud.

3. Develop Student Skills and Leadership

Goal: Provide meaningful opportunities for students to learn and grow as artists, leaders, and collaborators.
Members will gain hands-on experience in acting, directing, stagecraft, design, and stage management. Students will also have the chance to take on leadership roles that build confidence and responsibility.

4. Strengthen School and Community Engagement

Goal: Use theatre to enrich our school culture and create connections beyond the stage.
Whether through performances, outreach events, or partnerships with teachers and local organizations, the Theatre Guild will work to bring people together and showcase the positive impact of the arts.
