Licensure Examination Assistance Program or LEAP is a review program based at the CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine. It holds annual review sessions for veterinary graduates who will take the Veterinarian Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulations Commission. The program is composed of 8-week classroom set-up review to accommodate the 8 core subjects of the veterinary profession. This is open to all graduates from different veterinary schools. Aside from the relevant review given by invited speakers from their respective field of specialization, the program also provides review manuals, weekly assessments and mock exams, QOTD (question of the day) sent thru text messages and access to private FB group where additional reviewers are uploaded.
Through the collaborative efforts of the faculty members of the CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, the number of passers from LEAP increases through the years. Since its establishment, it had produced numerous topnotchers from 1st to 10th places every VLE. So far, the review program consecutively topped the board exam since 2013.
We take pride as we provide various considerations in the selection of speakers for various review topics. Most are faculty members of CLSU Colllege of Veterinary Medicine while some are faculty members from other veterinary schools and practitioners well-known for their field of specialization. Our lecture manuals are crafted and reviewed by our speakers to ensure the quality of information for our enrollees. Among our speakers include:
ANATOMY
PHYSIOLOGY
PARASITOLOGY
PHARMACOLOGY
PATHOLOGY
MICROBIOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH
ZOOTECHNICS
MEDICINE AND SURGERY
The review/lecture proper is being conducted in two large lecture halls of CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, the ODQ Hall and Room 717.
The Oscar D. Quines (ODQ) Hall, formerly known as Room 707, can accommodate 110 students. This air-conditioned lecture room is equipped with multimedia facilities (DLP projectors, speakers and other sound system, etc).
Room 717 is a newly renovated room which can accommodate 120 students. This is also equipped with multimedia facilities (DLP projectors, speakers and other sound system, etc).
Room 722 (Anatomy Lecture Hall) is the newly renovated lecture hall of CVSM and can accommodate 120 students. It has its own multimedia tools and is fully air conditioned.
Opening and closing programs are usually held at the RET Amphitheater.
With the advent of technology, we do not just rely on old-school lecture. We venture on different teaching methods that enhance as well as monitor the progress of our enrollees. We managed private Facebook groups exclusive for enrolled participants where additional review information are uploaded. Individually, we send question of the day (QOTD) encouraging the enrollees to review further and go for extra mile. We also conduct quiz bee encouraging our enrollees to form camaraderie among them while enhancing and assessing their preparedness for the board exam.
