Ways We Get to School: Our students come to our class in two different ways. Either they are brought by an adult, or they ride the bus. If your child is not riding the bus and you are interested in this service, I (Teacher Julie) can help you set this up. Please keep in mind that it usually takes about two weeks to set this transportation plan up, and that you will be informed by the transportation office once the bus is ready to start this service.
Drop-off by an Adult: If your child is brought to class by a grownup, they will be brought to the classroom door. Because of our need to prepare our learning activities each morning, we will open the classroom door each day when it is time for the students to come inside. (We open at 8:30 for the morning class, and 12:15 for the afternoon class.)
After-School Pickup: Students picked up by adults can be picked up at the end of the door at the classroom.
Who is Allowed to Pick up Your Child: When you register your child in the office, you write down the names of the people who are allowed to pick up your child. We will keep a copy of this list of names in the classroom, since our students get picked up at the classroom door. If someone comes to pick up your child that we do not know, and that you have not talked to us about, we will ask for photo identification to verify who they are - and they must be listed on the emergency card in order to pick up your child. Even if your child recognizes the person who comes, if their name is not on the emergency card, we will not release them to that person. You can add names to the card at anytime, so if a new person becomes available to pick up your child, please add that person to the list (you can do this in the school office - 327-8400). Thank you for your understanding, and for keeping in mind that this in the best interest of the safety of your child.
