BIS REFERRAL PROCESS
Administrators have access to complete a BIS referral in Infinite Campus (IC) (Student Information > BIS REFERRAL TAB)
The expectation is to provide as much information as possible on the referral to help the BIS determine how best to proceed. Mandatory fields are highlighted in red. Supports/Interventions implemented prior to the BIS referral should be included in the referral as this helps the BIS to be more efficient and effective. Prior Interventions/supports implemented may be found in IC under the PLP tab or obtained from the individual teacher.
Some examples of prior supports/interventions include but are not limited to the following:
Tier 1 Classroom Management Behavior Interventions (Positive Behavior Supports, Recognition/Reward Systems, Teaching, Modeling, and Reinforcing of Classroom Expectations and Procedures, Character Education, etc)
Tier 2 (Check in– Check Out (CICO), Behavior Contracts, Mentoring Programs, Small group behavior sessions targeting identified skills/competencies, Second Step groups, Social Skills Instruction)
School Counselor Referral
School Social Worker
Referral to Prevention-Alternatives to Suspension Programs (P-ATS Programs)
If a BIS referral for staff support is initiated in Infiinite Campus by an Administrator, send a notification email to your assigned Behavior Intervention Specialist, and copy maureen.egbuna@clayton.k12.ga.us as IC does not send out alerts.
