Rising 11th Grade Advisement group meetings are complete. Students who attended had the opportunity to receive information on accessing their transcript in Infinite Campus, reading their transcript, graduation requirements, grade level promotion, Dual Enrollment, Work-Based Learning, and they got to request their courses for 11th grade using a course request form. Copies of this form were made available to students who wanted to take them home.
Students who did not attend advisement will have their 11th grade courses requested by me, but they are able to Schedule a Check-In to have an individual discussion. Below is a copy of the Rising 11th Grade Advisement presentation that was sent to ALL Cohort 2028 students via CCPS student email and posted in the "Class of 2028" Canvas!
Cohort 2028 Titan students and parents are welcome to Schedule a Check-In with me to discuss their questions about academic, college/career, and personal/social issues. These meetings are private and can be held in-person, via Zoom, or on the phone. Scheduling a check-in this way allows families to receive dedicated time in my schedule to have their concerns addressed directly. Please let me know if you need language support at least 7 business days before your scheduled meeting so that I have enough time to request an interpreter for you. Below is the QR code I've provided to students. Feel free to scan it!
I have started going into classrooms to provide Cohort 2028 students with extra information and support on GAFutures and Naviance! All of our students should have a GAFutures account created, but students can access information on the website even if they don't have an account. In the classroom lessons, we reviewed Dual Enrollment, Hope Scholarship, and Zell Miller Scholarship opportunities in GAFutures.
We also got into Naviance together to start creating goals and starting assigned tasks! Every Cohort 2028 student should have their 10th grade academice, career, and personal/social goals set in their Naviance. We discussed why and how to set these goals during the lesson.
Below is the classroom presentation that I used. Feel free to click through it!
CDHS Counseling is proud to announce that we have launched a CDHS Peer Mediation Program! Peer mediation is a peer-led, confidential process that is designed to support students with handling minor conflicts in a peaceful and respectful manner. The ultimate goals of the CDHS Peer Mediation Program are to reduce the number of conflicts that escalate to administration as behavior incidents and to help students develop the social/emotional skills they need to manage their own conflicts in the future. We have six 10th grade Peer Mediators ready to provide support to 9th & 10th grade Titan students who are experiencing minor conflicts. The students who serve as Peer Mediators have been trained and will be supervised during all Peer Mediation sessions by a Peer Mediation Coordinator (Mrs. Townsend-Counselor or Mrs. Buchanan-CIS). Requests are reviewed by Peer Mediation Coordinators and follow-up contact may be made with the requestor to confirm details before acceptance for peer mediation.
If you or someone you know could use peer mediation, please complete our Peer Mediation Request Form by clicking the button below or scanning the QR code in the flyer!
