Warm Up (5-10 minutes)

Active Rock Paper Scissors



Play a game of Rock Paper Scissors using your whole body
    • Materials Needed:
      • None

Bottle Flip Challenge


How many times can you flip a bottle?
    • Materials Needed:
      • Plastic water bottle with a little bit of water

Skill Focus: Striking


For the skill activity, Move The Pin, participants will strike a ball to knock over a pin. Participants can use a putter, underhand roll, or kick the ball. See the video above, to see these skills modeled.

Using a Putter

    • Arms straight
    • Swing and tap
    • Materials Needed:
      • Cardboard tubes
      • Cardboard box
      • Tape
      • Rolled up socks or ball

Underhand roll or throw
    • Swing, step, roll
    • Materials Needed:
      • Rolled up socks or ball

Kicking

    • Step, plant, pass
    • Materials Needed:
      • Rolled up socks or ball

Skill Activity: Move The Pin

Time: 15-30 minutes
Materials Needed:
    • Rolled up socks or ball
    • Putter
    • Two empty water bottles
    • Four paper towels numbered 1-4

In this activity, participants take turns striking a ball to try to knock over a pin (water bottle). At the end of each round participants celebrate the winner by completing the exercises listed to the right.

After each round in Move The Pin, celebrate the winner by having every player do these exercises.

Family Engagement

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt


Play as either an individual/a small group against others in your family or as a big family team and see how many points you can earn by completing the different challenges.
If you complete one, check it off in the column on the right. Set an agreed-upon time limit for the game before you start.
At the end of the time limit, add up your points and see how many you/your team earned. Good luck!
