The Pumpkin run is a 1-mile youth fun run put on by the Nebraska Sports Council each October. It is the largest run of its kind in the nation! The Pumpkin run begins at Canopy Street railyard in Lincoln. Students register online and receive a Pumpkin run T-shirt and a medal after completing the run. Students are encouraged to run without an adult/sibling. However, and adult/sibling is allowed to run with their child free of charge. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled run time. Welcome to the Pumpkin Run!
The Mayor's run is a 1-mile youth fun run put on by the Lincoln Track Club, KFRX, and Sandhills Global. The Mayor's run is in May each year and begins at the State Capitol building. Students register online and receive a T-shirt and a medal after completing the run. Students are able to participate alone or register with the family plan to run with guardians and/or older siblings. Students grades six and under are also able to submit art work in advanced in order to be considered for the T-shirt design. The winner and runner-up of the art contest will be presented plaques. Many prizes including 30 bicycles, helmets, and bike locks from Trek Bicycle Lincoln, as well as 30 pairs of shoes from the Lincoln Running Co., will be awarded to students at school or available at packet pick up.
