Music Clubs

Semester Elective Club: Wednesdays 3:00-4:00PM

 September -February  

 Sonic Sounds is an award-winning non-audition extracurricular show choir at Holmes Elementary directed by Mr. Seuferer. This ensemble will prepare a show choir set to perform at the semester music program, and if funds are donated for busing this group will perform at the NCDA show choir festival at Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha. Sonic Sounds is open to any students from grades 4-5. Beginning singing techniques, presentation skills, and choreography will be studied through a variety of popular, show, and jazz style music. Students are required (or as needed with school assistance) to purchase a choir shirt. Shirts are around $10-$15. The remaining show choir attire includes blue jeans and closed toed tennis shoes.

Quarter Elective Club: Tuesdays 3:00-4:00 PM

***LIMIT OF 12 STUDENTS ***

Intro to piano club is taught by Holmes general music teacher Mr. Seuferer. This club is open to any student at Holmes Elementary with a desire to explore and learn some of the fundamental basics of piano playing. Instrument and music will be provided at no cost to the students and will be tailored to their skill level. This beginning piano club is designed to introduce students to the first levels of piano fundamentals which include:  familiarization of the keyboard, hand coordination, reading beginning staff notation, and introduction to standard beginning piano literature.

Students acquiring proficiency in a piano piece ***IF DESIRED, NOT REQUIRED & AT TEACHER DISCRETION*** will be given the opportunity to play their piece from club at the semester music program.

Sonic Sounds concert choir is a non-audition extracurricular ensemble at Holmes Elementary. This ensemble will prepare a concert choir set to perform at the semester music program. Sonic Sounds concert choir is open to any students from grades 4-5. Beginning singing techniques, and presentation skills will be studied through a variety of world, cultural, and classical styles of music. If your student was in Sonic Sounds show choir in the previous semester, and are continuing, they STILL need to resign up for this second semester.

Intro to guitar club is taught by Holmes general music teacher Mr. Seuferer. This club is open to any 4th-5th grade student at Holmes Elementary with a desire to explore and learn some of the fundamental basics of guitar playing. Instrument and music will be provided at no cost to the students and will be tailored to their skill level. This beginning guitar club is designed to introduce students to the first levels of guitar fundamentals which include:  familiarization of the strings & instrument, finger placements, equipment & tuning, reading beginning staff & chord notation, and introduction to standard beginning guitar literature.
