Clarkston Family Farm!

First field trip was a success!  We had a cloudy, but fantastic morning at the Clarkston Family Farm.  Here are some of Room 104's all-stars to tell you about it.

When we first got there, we went to the pavilion to go over all the rules for the farm. We sat with our group  (I was in the yellow group and my mom was a chaperone for yellow). Our first station was the plant station And I took home a mint plant instead of a strawberry plant, or a chive plant. Our second station was the wet land station. We were exploring to find little creatures in the pond. Our third station was the animal station. We learned about a bunch of farm animals and pet them. Our final station, station four, was the game station. We played a game were the deer picked random resource and if there was that resource, then you don’t die, but if there is no matching resource left, you die! The Clarkston Family Farm is awesome!

First, we got in groups. There was a yellow team, green team, blue team and brown team. I was in the yellow team then we went to stations we were starting at station 1 we made paper pot planters. Then station 2 was wet land station. We looked in buckets that had some water from the pond and it was VERY gross there were creatures in the water. I did not like it at all. At station 3 we got to learn about the farm animals like bunnies, mini horses, hens and roasters and a pig. One of the bunnies' names was Peter Rabbit. He is good at escaping. On station 4 we played a game called "oh deer ". There were 6 deers and 6 resources the deer and resources had to pick between shelter, space, water and food and if there wasn’t a resource you “died” a dramatic death and became a resource.

So when we got there we had to put on bandanus of different colors i got green. And then we figuret out the names of everybody and what station we would be at.i started at the animal petting area were all the bunnies/rabbits, chickens, pigs, donkeys, and horses it was fun. Then we leared about animals and what they need to survive and the food chain in a way. Then with the cards we would have we picked one and the dears would pick one and if the dears pick what you picked they could eat you.And if you get eaten you become a dear and then you would play again. Then we went to this area we we would make paper pots for plants and then put soil in.And then we got to put a plant in there and it could be strawberries chives or mints i picked strawberries. The we would go to the area were there were a lot of buckets filed with water and there was a bunch of them. That last part was my favite then we took a big pitcher.

So the first one I made was paper planters, we folded up paper to look like planters and then we put soil in it. Then we had a choice between mint, strawberries, and chives. I picked mint. Secondly we went over to wetlands and we got to pick out bugs and stuff from the swamp. I got a tadpole, leech, and a couple other bugs. Third me and my group went to a “petting zoo” type thing and we saw bunnies, 1 donkey and 2 horses, LOADS of chickens, and a pregnaut pig, Lastly we went to play a game called “ Oh Deer” where there were 6 deer and 6 resources and i was a deer and you would pick a resource and and the resources would pick a resource and if you matched with a resource you would try to get to that resource and try to dodge the obstacles.
